Students & Parents

Welcome to Kennedy School!

Kennedy S.T.E.M Focus School places an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math to ensure that our students will be reared for college and the careers of tomorrow. We also practice important 21st Century skills including collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving and digital literacy as part of our daily curriculum.

Every Monday you will receive a large envelope from your child’s teacher. Please take all items our and review them and return only needs signatures. Then sign the front of the envelope indicating you received it. The front is also a communication tool so you can see how your child’s behavior and work completion was each week. At Kennedy School we remind our students to Be Safe, Respectful and Responsible.

Kennedy School is located in the southeast section of San Jose, at the north end of Franklin- McKinley School District (FMSD). It is one of 16 schools in the FMSD and serves approximately 500 transitional kindergarten through sixth grade students during the 2015-2016 school year.
Kennedy School is the beneficiary of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) concentration, the core of which is designed by the first-ever partnership between the school District, Hitachi Data Systems, Wyse Technology, CORAL After-School program and the Tech Museum. With a STEM focus Kennedy will reflect curriculum emphasis on math, science, and technology.

Kennedy School students' apply the concepts of math and science in real-life situations through the wonderful labs and projects available through the Tech Museum, and by having technology partners work with teams of students and teachers as mentors and coaches. This is really a cognitive apprenticeship model at its best.

Parent involvement plays a critical role in the success of our students and we encourage participation in a variety of ways. For parent involvement opportunities, concerns or suggestions please feel free to contact school administration or staff.
